Hello, I'm Heather.
I am a new member of the War and Peace Lab and will be a first year graduate student in the Psychology of Peace and Violence Program in fall 2020. I received my BA with honors in Psychology with a minor in Government in 2017 from the Interdisciplinary Center Herzilya, Israel. My research interests focus broadly on exploring intergroup emotions in response to existential threat. I am specifically interested in exploring the expressions and failures of prosocial emotions in intergroup conflict. I also aim to examine group identification’s role on political polarization and political decision making. My research goals are to explore how historical trauma perpetuates ongoing violent conflicts and identify factors which contribute to the perpetration of genocide, with the ultimate goal of helping to prevent future atrocities.
